"Insufficient funds"
In short
Your bank declined Snap’s charge because the card doesn’t have enough available balance: the payment failed and your ads are paused until it is paid. Add funds to the card or add another one, then select Pay now in Billing & Payments › Payment methods.

| What it means (Snapchat help center) | Your bank declined the charge because the card doesn't have enough available balance | Votre banque a refusé le paiement car le solde disponible sur la carte n'est pas suffisant |
Where it shows up: in Snapchat Ads Manager, in Billing & Payments, as the reason a payment was declined.
Why it happens
- The card doesn’t have enough available balance. That is how Snapchat’s help center defines it: your bank declined the charge because the card can’t cover the amount due.
- Your ads stop. A failed payment puts the ad account on hold and pauses your ads until the balance is paid. You also get the “Failed Payments” notification.
- A bank limit has its own reason. If you hit a spending or transaction limit set by your bank, Snap shows “Amount or activity limit reached” instead.
How to fix it
- Add funds to the card to cover the full amount due. Or add another card with enough balance and set it as your default payment method.
- In Ads Manager, open Billing & Payments › Payment methods, then select Pay now.
- If the decline persists even though the balance is enough, follow the steps on the “Failed Payments” page: call your bank, then contact support with the details Snap asks for.

How to avoid it next time
- Check the card’s available balance as your billing date gets close.
- Add a backup payment method: according to Snapchat’s help center, it can keep your ads from being paused if the primary card is declined.
- If the card has a low per-transaction limit, ask your bank to raise it or use a card that fits your ad spend.

Frequently asked questions
Do my ads restart once the card has funds?
Yes, after the payment goes through. Snap won’t charge you again while the balance is unpaid: select Pay now. According to Snapchat’s help center, active and scheduled ads resume as soon as the payment succeeds.
My card has funds. Why “Insufficient funds”?
Check that the available balance covers the full amount due. If it does, call your bank: Snapchat’s help center says some declines can only be lifted by the bank, such as a block on online or international transactions.
How is it different from “Failed Payments”?
“Failed Payments” is the notification that reports the decline. “Insufficient funds” is one of the 9 reasons Snap shows in Billing & Payments to explain it.
Is “Insufficient funds” on Facebook Ads the same error?
No, this page covers Snapchat Ads. Meta has its own billing screens.
