Something Went Wrong: We're having trouble completing your request. Please try again. (#1487470)
In short
Meta’s generic error: the request failed without a stated cause, often because of a temporary problem on Meta’s side. Check your account status and Meta Status, clear the browser cache, then duplicate the ad or retry from the Ads Manager mobile app; if it blocks a payment method, try another card or contact support.

Where it shows up: in Ads Manager when you create or publish an ad, and in Billing & payments when you add a payment method.
Why it happens
- A generic error. Meta’s help center describes it as an error that can appear, with code 1487470, when you create an ad in Ads Manager, without naming a cause. Its checklist covers the account status, outages, the browser and the ad itself.
- Often a temporary problem on Meta’s side. Advertisers report waves of it: in October 2024, accounts in Singapore could not publish for a day; on November 20, 2025, the same title appeared on video ads for several advertisers at once.
- Also when adding a payment method. Since July 2026, advertisers report the same title in Billing & payments when they try to add a card, with “The payment systems encountered an error”.
How to fix it
These are the steps of Meta’s help center:
- In Business Support Home, check that the account is not suspended or flagged for a policy violation, and fix that first.
- Check Meta Status for an outage or maintenance.
- Clear the browser’s cache and cookies, or try another browser. Update the browser and check that your firewall does not block Meta.
- Duplicate the ad, or recreate it from scratch.
- Turn the ad off and on again (or on and off if it is inactive), then wait 5 to 15 minutes.
If the error appears when you add a payment method, follow Meta’s payment help: check the card (online payments, CVV, expiry date, funds, at most 10 ad accounts on the same card), try again later or with another payment method, then contact support from Business Support Home.
What worked for other advertisers
On r/FacebookAds and r/PPC, advertisers share what got their ads published. Each tip comes from a different incident, with few confirmations:
- Waiting: during the October 2024 outage, 5 advertisers say everything came back the next day without any change, “my AM & BM seems to have both been fixed” (thread).
- When the error appears after Publish, go back to the campaign creation screen and use Review and publish instead: it worked for 2 ads out of 3 for one advertiser (2 confirmations, October 2024).
- Use the mobile app: make the same change from the Ads Manager mobile app (1 confirmation, r/PPC), or add the card from the mobile app instead of the desktop (1 confirmation, October 2026).
- Delete the account’s unpublished drafts, then recreate the ad: “I deleted my drafts, started over and it worked” (1 confirmation, November 2023).
During outages, a new browser, a new ad account, a new business portfolio or a rebuilt campaign changed nothing, and republishing in a loop let some ads through with abnormal costs.
How to avoid it next time
- Before rebuilding a campaign, check whether colleagues or other advertisers see the same error: if so, it is an incident and waiting is enough.
- Delete old unpublished drafts from the account from time to time.
- Keep a backup payment method on the account, so a payment error does not stop delivery.

Frequently asked questions
Why does it only happen on my video ads?
On November 20, 2025, several advertisers got the same “Something Went Wrong” on video ads at the same time, with another code (#4458001), and described it as a global issue. Re-exporting the video did not help them; waiting for Meta to fix it did.
Meta won’t let me add any payment method and shows this error. What can I do?
Meta’s payment help asks you to check the card (online payments, CVV, expiry, funds, at most 10 ad accounts per card), retry later or with another method, then contact support. One advertiser got through by adding the card from the mobile app; another saw it resolve on its own after 25 days.
Is error 1487470 a ban?
Not by itself. Meta’s help center asks you to check in Business Support Home that the account is not suspended or flagged, because a restricted account can also block publishing.
Does clearing the cache really help?
It is Meta’s first advice and it works when the problem is your browser. When the whole account or a whole country is affected, advertisers say a new browser, a new ad account or a rebuilt campaign changed nothing.
