Meta Ads testing structures: the 4 models in one click
How your creatives are grouped, decided in one card.
Picking a structure is not a configuration detail. It decides what your numbers will mean a week later: per creative, per angle, or not much.
The four structures
| Structure | What it creates | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| One ad set one ad | One ad set per creative, named after the ad | Pure isolation testing, clean per-creative signal |
| One concept one ad set | All iterations of a concept in one ad set named after the concept | Concept-level testing, the most requested structure |
| All in one | Every creative in a single named ad set | One batch equals one ad set, broad dynamic testing |
| Insert | New ads inside existing ad sets | Feeding winners, protecting the learning phase |
Because the naming step already recognized your concepts, one concept one ad set doubles as one angle one ad set: what you call a concept in your file names becomes the unit you read.
Formats, bundled the way Meta expects
One ad equals one concept, one iteration, and every format of that iteration. The square, vertical, story and landscape versions of the same creative are combined into a single Meta ad, so the right ratio serves per placement. This is exactly how placement customization is meant to be used, and it avoids automatic cropping.
Video and image do not mix, however: the two versions of the same concept and iteration go into two ads, suffixed automatically.
Budget, schedule and status
Daily budget is set per ad set under ABO, with the ad account’s currency symbol, and is disabled automatically under CBO since budget then lives at campaign level.
Four launch statuses: live now, created paused, scheduled and live, scheduled and paused. Scheduling always uses the ad account timezone read from Meta, which avoids the classic gap between your browser clock and the billing clock.
What this does not solve
Multiplying ad sets only makes tests more reliable if each one gets enough budget to exit the learning phase. At a constant budget, isolating every creative mechanically reduces what each receives.
In insert mode, prefixes and suffixes are deliberately restricted to ad level, so the names of ad sets already running are never touched. And applying one configuration across ad sets mixing website and instant form is blocked, with an explanation.
Frequently asked questions
Questions fréquentes
Which structure should I pick?
One concept one ad set is the most requested in media buying: it gives a per-angle read. One ad set one ad isolates each creative and gives the cleanest signal, at the cost of a budget that grows with every creative isolated. All in one suits workflows where one batch equals one ad set.
Can I add creatives without breaking the learning phase?
That is what insert mode is for: new ads go into ad sets already learning rather than creating new ones. The picker lists them by campaign, with status, budget and a CBO or ABO badge.
Do I need to create the campaign in Meta first?
No. You can select an existing campaign, whatever its objective, or create a real one from Apogee, with a sales or leads objective, special ad category, CBO or ABO optimization and a bid strategy.
