"Ad is rejected" (error code INVALID_NOT_APPROVED_REVIEW_STATUS)

In short

Snap rejected the ad in review: it won’t deliver until it is fixed and approved. In Manage Ads › Ads, hover over the icon next to the ad to see the reason, then click the ad for details. Fix the creative, targeting or landing page, then resubmit.

Delivery status (Manage Ads table) Ad is rejected La publicité est rejetée
Notification (Ads Manager and email) Ad is Rejected La publicité est rejetée
Notification reason (Snapchat help center) Your ad has been rejected. Votre publicité a été rejetée.

Where it shows up: in Snapchat Ads Manager, as the ad’s delivery status in the Manage Ads table, in notifications and by email; in the Marketing API, as the delivery_status INVALID_NOT_APPROVED_REVIEW_STATUS.

Why it happens

  • The ad didn’t pass Snap’s review. According to Snapchat’s help center, every new ad is reviewed. It is reviewed again when its creative or its ad set’s targeting changes. A rejected ad doesn’t deliver.
  • The reason can be the creative or the targeting. Snapchat’s help center points to its creative guidelines for a creative rejection, and to its Advertising Policies for a targeting rejection.
  • In the Marketing API, the status has a code. The ad’s delivery_status contains INVALID_NOT_APPROVED_REVIEW_STATUS, which Snap’s documentation defines as a failed ad review. The reasons are listed in review_status_reasons.
  • A tooltip comes with the status. When you hover over a rejected ad, Snap shows “Your ad is in violation of Snap policy”. The reason shows when you hover over the icon, the details when you click the ad.

How to fix it

  1. In Ads Manager, open the menu in the top corner, then Manage Ads › Ads.
  2. Hover over the icon next to the rejected ad to read the reason, then click the ad for details.
  3. If the details aren’t enough, open the Creative Library from the menu and click the rejected ad.
  4. If the reason is about the creative or the copy, click Edit and fix them. If the reason targets the landing page, fix it on your site.
  5. If the reason is about the targeting, click Edit under the ad set’s name in Manage Ads. Adjust the location, demographics or audiences to follow the Advertising Policies, then click Save & Close.
  6. Resubmit. The ad goes through review again and doesn’t deliver in the meantime. Editing a creative changes every ad that uses it.
  7. If you think the ad follows the policies, write to Snap from the Contact Support page, which the article on editing after review links to. An assistant answers first and opens a case if needed. Snap doesn’t say what to include for a rejection: at least name the ad and the reason shown.

What worked for other advertisers

On r/PPC, advertisers whose ads all got rejected within minutes share what helped:

  1. Isolate the landing page. Publish a test ad pointing to a neutral page, such as an article on a well-known media site. If it passes, the landing page is the problem: “whatever is on the landing page may not” (2 confirmations, July 13, 2021).
  2. Same advice in 2026: if every version is rejected within 2 to 3 minutes, test a simple page of your site. “Snap reviews the landing page too” (1 confirmation, October 10, 2026).

What didn’t help:

  • Switching domain, landing page, ad account and card. Every ad was rejected within 28 seconds, and the advertiser sees it as an account-level block (April 27, 2024).
  • Opening new accounts with an edited ad and landing page: same rejection (November 11, 2021).
  • Support chat, which pointed to the help center form without giving a reason (July 14, 2021).

Some of this feedback dates from 2021: Snap’s interface may have changed since.

How to avoid it next time

  • Read Snap’s ad specifications and Advertising Policies before publishing: creative, copy and targeting.
  • Check that the landing page follows those policies too. Advertisers report that Snap reviews it.
  • Batch your edits: changing the creative or the targeting triggers a new review and holds delivery.

Frequently asked questions

My Snapchat ads get rejected 2 to 3 minutes after publishing, with no reason. Why?

An r/PPC advertiser replied in October 2026 that it usually isn’t the ad: Snap reviews the landing page too. Publish a test pointing to a neutral page to check, and hover over the rejected ad’s icon in Manage Ads to read the reason.

Where do I see the rejection reason?

In Manage Ads › Ads, hover over the icon next to the rejected ad to see the reason, then click the ad for details. You can also click the rejected ad in the Creative Library to see why it wasn’t approved.

How is it different from “Your ad is in violation of Snap policy”?

It is the same rejection. “Ad is rejected” is the ad’s status. “Your ad is in violation of Snap policy. Please click the Ad to learn how to fix it.” is the message that comes with a rejected ad. The reason shows when you hover over the icon, the details when you click the ad.

What does INVALID_NOT_APPROVED_REVIEW_STATUS mean in the API?

It is a delivery status in Snap’s Marketing API, defined as “The Ad has failed Ad review”. The ad then has a review_status of REJECTED, and the reasons are in review_status_reasons.

Does switching ad accounts or domains fix it?

Not for the advertisers who tried it. In April 2024, one switched domain, landing page, ad account and card: every ad was rejected within 28 seconds.
