Where it shows up: in TikTok Ads Manager, when a card payment fails: adding the payment method, adding balance or paying the amount due.
Why it happens
- The card is declined. TikTok’s help center lists this message among payment information errors, alongside the expired card and the invalid security code.
- Common causes, according to the help center. Wrong details entered, a poor network connection or a bank authorization issue. The payment can fail when adding the card or when it is charged.
- Only the bank knows the exact reason. The message sends you to it: the bank can tell you whether the card is, for example, blocked, deactivated or reported.
- Not the same as the account status. If the message mentions your account status, the ad account is what blocks the payment: see “Payment failed” (account status).
How to fix it
- Retry with another payment method, as the message suggests.
- Contact your bank and ask why it declined the payment, as the message also asks.
- Check the payment details entered in TikTok Ads Manager: valid, unexpired card, enough funds or available credit.
- Turn off any VPN or pop-up blocker, extensions included: according to TikTok’s help center, they can stop the 3D Secure verification page from loading.
- Clear cookies and cache, then pay in incognito mode or another browser. You can also add &reset_cache=1 to the end of the Ads Manager URL.
- If the issue persists, contact TikTok Business Support.
