Account Error

In short

“Account Error” is an error status advertisers see in the Delivery column of Ads Manager: delivery is blocked at the ad account level. The cases they report are a failed payment or a disabled account, two situations where Meta documents that ads stop. Hover over the status, then pay the balance or fix the restriction.

Status (Ads Manager, Delivery column) Account Error

Where it shows up: in the Delivery column of Ads Manager, as the status of a campaign, ad set or ad.

Why it happens

  • An error status stops delivery. According to Meta’s help center on delivery statuses, an error status means the campaign, ad set or ad can’t run at all because a problem needs attention, and you can hover over the status for details. “Account Error” is not in the list of common statuses Meta publishes: it is advertisers who describe it.
  • A failed payment disables the ad account. When the payment method fails, Meta pauses the ads and disables the ad account until the amount due is paid.
  • A missing payment method also prevents ads from being published.
  • A disabled or restricted account for other reasons blocks delivery the same way; Meta handles it in Business Support Home.

How to fix it

  1. In Ads Manager, hover over the error status in the Delivery column to read Meta’s details.
  2. Go to Billing & payments, select the ad account, then click Payment methods. If an amount is due, click Pay now and choose an existing payment method or add a new one.
  3. If the account is disabled or restricted for another reason, go to Meta Business Support Home, click the account in Account Overview and follow the What you can do section.
  4. Once the balance is paid, Meta resumes active and scheduled ads; check the Delivery column again.

What worked for other advertisers

Under a much-watched tutorial on this status, advertisers say it cleared once they:

  1. Paid the balance due in Billing & payments with Pay now (same card or a new one), then reloaded the Campaigns tab.
  2. When nothing was due, checked the account spending limit: if the amount spent had reached it, they reset, raised or removed it.
  3. Gave Meta up to an hour to restart delivery after paying.

One comment sums it up: “It Worked immediately! Wasted hours trying to figure this out”. At least 18 replies say it worked (checked on 2026-10-08).

How to avoid it next time

  • Add a backup payment method to the ad account, as Meta recommends.
  • Check card expiry dates and available funds, especially close to your monthly billing date.
  • Meta notes that one payment method can typically be added to up to 10 ad accounts: do not spread the same card over more.

Frequently asked questions

Will my ads restart after I pay?

Yes. Meta says that once you have paid the due balance or added sufficient funds, it resumes any active or scheduled ads.

I paid and still see the error. Why?

Meta notes that ads can stay paused if you reached your daily spending limit set by Meta, and that an account disabled for a failed payment may take a little while to return to good state after you add funds.

Is “Account Error” a ban?

Not necessarily. It is a delivery status; a policy restriction is handled separately in Business Support Home.
