| Message (also in the Marketing API error reference) | Ad account has no access to this Instagram account. Please use authorized Instagram account or assign ad account to this Instagram account first. | Le compte publicitaire n’a pas accès à ce compte Instagram. Veuillez utiliser le compte Instagram autorisé ou affectez-y d’abord le compte publicitaire. |
Where it shows up: in Ads Manager and in the response of Meta's Marketing API.
Why it happens
- The Instagram account is not connected to the ad account. Meta’s Marketing API error reference lists this message under subcode 1815199. An Instagram account is used in ads through the business portfolio it belongs to or through the Facebook Page it is connected to; Meta notes that only people with access to the Instagram account’s ad accounts can use it to advertise.
- The Instagram account is not connected to the Page used in the ad. To advertise with a professional Instagram account, Meta asks you to connect it to a Facebook Page; this lets anyone with ad management access to the Page advertise on the Instagram account.
- The assets sit in different business portfolios. An Instagram account can only be in one business portfolio at a time, and it has to be in the same portfolio as the Page you want to connect it to.
How to fix it
- In Ads Manager, open the ad and go to the Identity section. Check the Facebook Page and the Instagram account selected.
- If you do not need a specific Instagram account, keep the Page: Meta automatically selects the connected Page as the voice of your ads on Instagram.
- To use the Instagram account, add it to the business portfolio that owns the ad account: Meta Business Suite > Settings > Instagram accounts (under Accounts) > Add. You need full control of the business portfolio.
- Or connect the Instagram professional account to the Facebook Page used in the ad, from the Instagram app: Edit profile > Page > Connect or create.
- Make sure you have the Admin or Advertiser role on the ad account, then publish again.
What worked for other advertisers
In an r/FacebookAds thread that calls this message a glitch, duplicating the ad set (or the whole campaign) and publishing the copy made it go away. The proof is thin: 2 replies confirm it (“THIS helped! THANKS”), one says it did not work. On a brand-new Page, some advertisers say waiting a day was enough.

How to avoid it next time
- Keep the ad account, the Facebook Page and the Instagram account in the same business portfolio.
- Connect each Instagram professional account to its Facebook Page before you build ads.
- When you duplicate ads into another ad account, check the Identity section: the Instagram account may not be available there.

Frequently asked questions
Can I run Instagram ads without an Instagram account?
Yes. Meta lets you use your Facebook Page as the voice of your ads on Instagram: in the ad’s Identity section, the connected Page is selected automatically under Instagram account.
I can see the Instagram account in Meta Business Suite. Why is it still refused?
Seeing it is not enough: Meta says only people with access to the Instagram account’s ad accounts can use it to advertise. The ad account itself needs access, through the same business portfolio or the Page connected to the Instagram account.
Does this error affect ads already running?
The message is returned when an ad is created or edited. Meta's text does not say anything about ads already running; check their delivery status in Ads Manager.
