Couldn't edit your ads: Edits to your ads couldn't be saved for the following reason: Invalid usage of ForceRunStatus (#1487083)
In short
Meta could not save the changes to your ads, for an internal reason it does not explain: as of October 21, 2026, we have found no Meta help page or Marketing API error reference entry that mentions this code. With no official fix, advertisers got through by publishing in a new campaign, shortening headlines and text, re-editing the video or going through Meta support.

Where it shows up: in Ads Manager, in the review window that opens when you publish changes, and sometimes a few minutes later as an error in the Delivery column.
Why it happens
- An internal block on Meta’s side, with no explanation. “ForceRunStatus” is an internal name: the message does not say which setting is the problem. As of October 21, 2026, we have found no Meta help page or Marketing API error reference entry that mentions this code.
- Also after publishing. Advertisers get the message as a delivery error too, a few minutes after their changes are processed (threads from May 2024 and May 2026). For one of them, the error came back about ten minutes after every publish.
- Sometimes another problem hides behind it. In April 2022, one advertiser saw the real reason appear after removing the Stories placement: a rejection under the Employment special ad category. In a May 2026 thread, another one blames ads flagged as spam. These are isolated cases.
- A recent wave on Messages ads. In early October 2026, several threads report the error when editing or publishing Messages ads. It looks like a temporary bug at Meta, which Meta has not confirmed.
How to fix it
With no Meta procedure for this code, start with the fixes that unblocked other advertisers (a single confirmation each), then run the checks in Meta’s help on failed ad edits, written for another error (#1860014) but covering the most common blocks:
- Publish in a new campaign instead of editing the old one. On a Messages ad: “Try launching a new advertising campaign; that’s what I did” (October 2026).
- Shorten the headlines and descriptions: according to one advertiser, Ads Manager does not always show the character limit, and going over it was what triggered the error (May 2024).
- If the ad has a video, re-edit it: the author of the first thread cut some frames, fitted the formats to each placement and uploaded the video again, “Turns out I had to re-edit my content” (April 2022).
- Check your access: you need to be an admin or advertiser on the ad account, have a role on the Facebook Page, and have access to the pixel used in the ad.
- If the ad was created from Meta Business Suite or from the Facebook Page, edit it where it was created: Ads Manager cannot edit it. The ad’s activity history shows how it was created.
- If the ad uses a Page post, check that the post still exists: a deleted post can no longer be used to edit an ad.
- Check the Facebook Ads Manager and Messaging Ads lines on Meta Status: if an incident is listed, wait for it to be resolved.
- Open Account Quality to see whether an ad, the Page or the domain is flagged: one advertiser believes the error was hiding a rejection of that kind.
- If nothing changes, contact Meta support from Business Support Home: after a blocked weekend, support is what put one advertiser’s ads back into delivery, “they just got them running again” (May 2022).
If the window shows “Something Went Wrong” with code #1487470 instead, follow the “Something Went Wrong” (#1487470) page: Meta documents that error, with its own steps.
What worked for other advertisers
Steps 1 to 3 and 9 above come from r/FacebookAds and r/FacebookAdvertising threads. Other leads have no confirmation at all:
- Uncheck the item in error in the review window and publish the rest (April 2022).
- Test one new draft in a separate campaign, to tell whether the block comes from the campaign or the account (October 2026).
- Delete the ad creative, add it again and, in the crop settings of the “Right column, Search results” placement, switch from “Original” to “1.91:1 (recommended)” (LinkedIn post from November 2023).
- Check whether the ads or the domain are flagged as spam, then delete the ad and create it again (May 2026 thread).
What does not help on its own: clearing the cache, switching browsers, duplicating the ad (May 2024 and October 2026), or waiting a whole weekend without changing anything (May 2022). Rebuilding the campaign does not always work either: in April 2022, three new campaigns with the same video kept the error.
How to avoid it next time
- Stay under the character limits for headlines and text in each placement, even when Ads Manager shows no warning.
- Prepare a video that fits each placement format rather than a single cropped file.
- Before rebuilding a campaign that refuses edits, test the change in a draft inside a separate campaign.

Frequently asked questions
What does “ForceRunStatus” mean?
It is an internal Meta name, not a setting you can see in Ads Manager. As of October 21, 2026, we have found no Meta help page or Marketing API error reference entry that mentions code 1487083.
Does duplicating the ad fix it?
No, according to several advertisers: the copy keeps the error (May 2024 and October 2026). In October 2026, publishing in a new campaign worked better on a Messages ad.
Why does the error show up in the Delivery column after publishing?
Advertisers see it as a delivery error a few minutes after their changes are processed. Meta’s help center says processing usually takes a few minutes, and up to 8 hours for some updates, before the status refreshes.
Should I contact Meta support?
Yes, if the other options fail: in May 2022, support is what got the ads of an advertiser stuck for a whole weekend running again.
